My theory is that JtB is going to play some part in a big final showdown between Jesus and Herod (don't tell me if I'm right or not!). A lot of people laughed at me, over on the Biblical Fan-fiction forums, but I still think the writer made too big of a deal of introducing him, just to ignore him later on. Besides, some of those BibFF folks are crazy anyway, with all of their Jesus/MM stuff (when everyone knows that Simon Peter and Mary Magdalene are OTP!).
